It's so difficult to dance..........(1)

There have been many a times when people dance on the floor, some people are just watching them. Some with confusion, some with envy, some with pride and some with hope. Some trying to get into the groove and some just trying to find a space to get in .Many of us who have been to great Indian wedding fiesta, must be a great dancer but not me .
Last week I had been to my cousin’s wedding ,not even a cousin ,but just one of those people who you just know .A beautiful Indian wedding but just with one exception ,the bride was 3 inches taller .That is not supposed to happen in India ,the groom is supposed to be older and taller .
Never mind after usual ceremonies everybody was supposed to get on the floor ,a shake the booty .After lot of resilience I was also forced to dance .
After the first embarrassing move I made I saw a face flash in the dark .A pale face smiling like a god .
When noticed carefully he was my Grandfather ,my mother’s father .After watching him in that beautiful night many old memories came rushing back.
How he used take me on his back ,hold my fingers and show me the old and narrow streets of shimla ,his drinking tea at the shabbiest tea corners .Angry many times but not ever uttering a word of insolence to anyone, as honest as the priest .(cont.)

Generation Evaluation & Evolution (Cont.)

The first hero of a child is always his Father and before a girl idolizes Rani Lakshmi bai, Princess Diana or Marlyn Monroe she looks up to her Mother. This is how generations evaluate the previous ones and evolve.
We often heard the statement that “the kids are more smarter these days then they were previously.” I often wonder that these statements would be repeated after every quarter of a century. That is just because of the constant improvement in the generations....,,that is why we became a man from apes.
Following the footsteps has been a norm and a human tendency. What we see is, what we like, and what we want to do.We always want to become something ,be someone else, and the first best thing we notice in our lives is our family.
We so much depend upon our parents may be not because they grow us up, but may be they are the predecessors of the civilization we follow. The sole responsibility to pass on the civilization and traditions lie on them . They act as a “Sachin Tendulkar” between a “Sunil Gavaskar” and an “Irfan pathan”,bridging between generations.
From politics to sports, from corporate world to showbiz ,this middle generation is watched closely by the predecessors as well as the successors .They teach some, realize their mistakes to others, inspire many and anger few.Management kids refer to them as case studies, historians as past and many think about them with nostalgia but no one can deny their affect on us .
The best thing they did to us is ,they taught us to differentiate, bad from ugly, grey from black, that is what differentiates a man from ape.
But what is still left........is it many more science theories,or is it saturn then uranus then pluto.......no
It is evaluating ourselves and evolving further.

Pendulum Knows to swing !!!

The Pendulum Swings
This column is not be about some bhashand baazi .This column doesn’t have any information about something going inside the corridors of powers. This column wouldn’t give any microscopic view about the problems of India. Then what is this all about. This is about the youth . The issues we have ,the problems we face and the simple solution to those problems we have. Yes , simple b’coz major problems can sometime have unthinkable ,but simple solutions. The youth needs to react , and it knows how to react because the Pendulum knows to swing.
The reactions have many facets , esp. in Indian context. From the spirit of non violence to being a revolutionist . From Dharnas to black bands. From newspapers to now the electronic media .But the thing is how much are they affective. How many on them can relate to the issues .Are they some kind of gimmick to gain public attention .On the streets of Mumbai, delhi and now bangalore thousands of medical students are being beaten up for a peaceful processions in reaction of the reservation policy .On the other hand various so called national parties are carrying out Rath yatras in reaction to the various terrorist attacks in the country and holding up rallies where the people are being forced and being beaten up to join and listen to the leader , just for the sake of it.Do we need pay attention to these people or the students who were being pulled off the street? The choice is totally ours. After 1947 the country had not been able to find a single leader who was young, dynamic and had somewhat had a universal appeal . Some would say that Rajiv gandhi had that charisma with a 400 odd seats the congress won in the first election the congress fought under him. But that was just symphathetic votes after Mrs. Gandhi’s death .
That is why our country is lacking in major areas.Economists often make a statement while comparing growth of India and china “That China is progressing because of its political will and leadership and India is progressing despite its political will and leadership.”That sums out the both countries.
